A Message from the Commanding Officer
On behalf of the entire station population I’d like to welcome you to our website.
The year is 2392 - twelve years after the events from the last Star Trek canon movie, Star Trek: Nemesis.*
Assigned to Task Force 23 in Theta Fleet, the Celestial Class DS5 is on the edge of the Federation Frontier, gateway to the foreign empires of the Beta Quadrant and launchpad for those seeking fame as much as those who don't want to be found.
Orbiting the strange alien world of Pangaea, this frontier city in space is home to more than a hundred thousand beings and hosts the Dyson Repair Yards, state of the art Diplomatic facilities, and The Square Mile – a hundred promenade decks dedicated to Independent enterprises; artisans; advisors, professionals, and entrepreneurs making their way where Civilisation meets the Wild Unknown.
Like DS9 that inspired us we are not just about Starfleet exploring and seeking out new worlds. Our cast of regular and recurring character is huge and our complex storylines cover a vast range of topics. Here civilians and non-allied aliens play an active role in shaping the story, adding a depth and diversity rarely seen on ship based simms.
DS5 is a simm for the long haul - several of our players have been with DS5 for more than seven years but we are always willing to open our arms to new players who want to become part of our family and our world - dedicated and imaginative writers are always welcome to make a home with us.
Please explore our site, read our marvellous mission posts, and if you enjoy what you see, consider joining us.
If you'd like to discuss your character concept/desired position before submitting a full application please send me a message.
If you don't see the position you would like listed, or if it is occupied by an NPC please drop us a line - the chances are we can make it available to you (exceptions apply), or create it for your character.
Commander Maritza Soran
Commanding Officer - SB DS5
Any references to events pertaining to the 2009 film or sequels will be removed.

I've processed the monthly report, and I have some awards to announce.
First up, are the long service gongs. These go to:
Matt (Caleb) for 3 years
Myself for 8 years
And finally to Jools (Amia) for an incredible 9 years.
So congratulations to Matt for sticking with us during an awkward time, his contributions have more than kept us going; and to Jools for not having the good sense to quit a long time ago, and keeping us all entertained for such a long long time.
Secondly, the winner of the Crew's Choice was Debs (Liam) who had by far the greatest number of votes, and the reasons people submitted showed that she is invaluable to the life blood of the sim.
There were two other awards this month. The first was a Plot Development Citation for Debs, for her work weaving the various diplomatic threads into the wonderful tangled web we now have. The other is a civilian Commendation for Thom, for his continued portrayal of Raddon, especially the creative post "We Stand With Ryan"
Congratulations to everyone. I love giving out awards, so feel free to send me your nominations for anything you feel is worthy of recognition.

I'm pleased to announce the return of an old DS5 player Dayne, who returns to us after several years away, along with his PC, the part cardassian Ryan Milarno.
But Milarno has given up on his hyppocratic oath and turned a great deal more martial, and comes back to DS5 to replace not Amia, but Caleb, as the new head of security.
So welcome him back with a flurry of JPs, and discover the tragedy that changed the course of his life!

And the new hangout is up and running. If anyone wants to join is and has problems getting on, let me know. Otherwise, please hop on and share congratulations with Matt.

The monthly, quarterly and yearly awards are up and DS5 has made a couple of notable categories.
First up, we got Bronze unit of Merit again! That was for some super posting over Christmas, so well done at this traditionally slow period.
The quarterly awards saw awarded Matt player of the quarter (well done Matt, you really are a star!), and to blow my own trumpet, I was also mightily chuffed to be awards the CO of the Quarter award for our Task Force. A commander is only as good as their players, so thank you again.

Its a brilliant start to 2018, so please clap yourselves on the back, and set your sights on doing it bigger and better in the year to come.
Live long and prosper!

Yolanthe turned as the Cardassian called her name. She turned a softer shade of blue. Perhaps he was ready to confine Draxx after all, "Yes" she checked his collar pips, "Lieutenant?"

The comm. link opened revealing the large head of the man in charge.
"I assume your message has been given," the alien demanded, his chins wobbling.
